The Benefit Concert Event
For Homeless Women,
Children and Teens
A Humanitarian Crisis
The number of women and the children who flee with them to the streets are increasing at an appalling rate. In the United States, as of this writing, there are over 223,000 women who are grappling with homelessness. An astonishing 2.5 million children per year endure its harsh reality. The typical family facing homelessness is identified by an African American mother, under the age of 27, with 2 small children. 90% of these women have experienced severe trauma from domestic abuse and rape. Teens fare no better. Nearly 2 million teens between the ages of 12 and 17 call the streets their home. They overwhelmingly cite family conflict, abuse, neglect and alcohol or drug addiction by a family member as the reason that they have fled to the streets. Many fall into addiction themselves, and are trafficked or get involved in prostitution.
Rock4Roofs Will Address This Crisis
by supporting existing shelters that cater to the specific needs of homeless and un-housed women, children and teens
by erecting new shelters and environments that provide security, sanitation, medical care, education, counseling, food distribution and job placement
by providing programs uniquely focused on the needs of homeless women, children and teens.
Please support our efforts with a tax-deductible donation on behalf of
homeless women, children and teens.
How the Power of Music Provided Over 60,000 Meals
When we reached out to Sir Paul McCartney and asked if we could use his song Junk as the focal point for a campaign to kick start our food distribution program into high gear, we saw magic happen and doors open to us. Sir Paul’s generosity enabled us to distribute over tens of thousands of meals to the homeless - in the streets, at neighborhood food banks and at churches. The Junk In The Yard connected us to important people via a musical bridge of empathy, remembrance and tolerance. That’s what his song meant to us.
If a single video can enable that much aid to be transferred to the homeless community, imagine how much care a benefit concert like Rock4Roofs can generate. We invite you to join our team to make it happen.

Artists Against Apartheid: Sun City
AMOUNT RAISED: $1,000,000+
Although Sun City, a protest song against South Africa’s then policy of apartheid was not a benefit concert, per se - it’s objective to influence social change was a game changer. Van Zandt was relentless in his commitment to shine a light on this form of politically endorsed racism. Guess what - it worked.
